Diversity and Inclusion Programming (2013 - present):

Board Member 

Assist in the planning of the four diversity-based, large-scale programs that were instituted to provide a safe and discrimination-free space for members of the minorities of Boston College. The events are:

  • The Annual Boat Cruise
  • The Annual Gala, Keynote Speaker Coordinator
  • The Annual Ball, Public Relations Coordinator
  • The Annual Showdown, Stage Manager

Concerned About Rape Education (C.A.R.E.) Week Committee (2014):

Representative

Planned an on-campus awareness campaign entitled "C.A.R.E. Cookies". Six different C.A.R.E. Week related phrases were placed in 1000 fortune cookies and given out at all of the C.A.R.E. Week events. 

GLBTQ Leadership Council (2012 - 2014):

Director of Programming (2013-2014)       

Provided education and community-enhancing events for the GLC Council and the Boston College student body. Submitted the year’s budget with event descriptions, including the venue, date, and time. Ensured programs presented to the Boston College student body provided strengthening and awareness of the GLBTQ community.  

Shaw Homeless Veterans Volunteers Program (2014):

Speaker Coordinator

Planned a three-speaker event on “PTSD and Mental Health in Homeless Veterans" to promote the discussion of mental health in both the general homeless population and in the homeless veterans population. The speakers were Professor Marylou Sudders, Dr. Terence Keane, and Secretary Coleman Nee.

Community Events Board (2013 - present):

Community Events Board Chairman 

Oversee the Community Events board and delegate tasks to the board members. Propose a Shaw events calendar at the beginning of the school year, perform a SWOT analysis of the Community Events Board to envision where the program needs to expand and where it needs to be cut back, and create detailed outlines and timelines for each event. Prepare day of checklists containing the necessities of the event as well as preparation tasks. 

Serve as the liaison of the Community Events Board to the Shaw Council. The Shaw Council consists of the directors and chairpersons of all internal Shaw departments. Meetings occur once a week, following the Freshman Seminars. 

Assist with the interviewing and accepting of the incoming Freshman Shaw Class. Will be sitting in on the interviews over the summer and evaluating the applicants for the program. 

Mentor Program Facilitator (2013 - 2014)

Paired upperclassmen mentors with freshmen based on similarities, majors, extracurriculars, and requests; facilitated mentorship bonding through social events, such as movie nights and holiday cookie decorating; expanded and energized the program based off of the foundations of the 2012 - 2013 mentor program. Created and distributed surveys throughout the year to evaluate the mentor program, so that the program may begin to accumulate data on effective and ineffective aspects of the program. 

Sophomore Program (2013 - 2014):

 

Freshman Program (2012 - 2013) :

Lived in Boston College's historic Shaw House for the 2012 - 2013 school year. Participated in weekly seminars on leadership styles and personal development. The workshops each focused on a specific aspect of leadership and figuring out how that aspect matches or is missing from each persons individual leadership style. Volunteered at the Crittenton Women's Union and Birthday Wishes for the servant leadership aspect of the freshman program. 

GLC Freshman Leadership Program (2012 - 2013)

Accepted into the GLC Freshman program. Consisted of weekly meetings with the other program members to discuss the organization's history, opinions, and goals. 

First Semester: placed in the Programming Department with the Director of Programming (Alex Taratuta) serving as my mentor. Learned the internal workings of Boston College on-campus programming, planned events alongside the Director, and served as a liaison to the Publicity team. 

Second Semester: inducted into the Programming Department as a board member. Independently planned an event centered around the documentary "Brother Outsider". The event served as a collaboration with the Boston College Black Student Forum. Assisted in the planning of the GLC Gala, a 100 - 200 person dance dedicated to providing a safe space for all types of self expression.
